Race to the Castle

There’s a new event in town…. Race To The Castle.

40km Down River Race. One Way.

Saturday 27th April 2024

Welcome to Race to the castle. R2TC is a paddle board event, that celebrates the strength, strategy and courage a paddler makes when they commit to an ultra distance paddling challenge. This is the first annual R’Castle and we think it going to be the start of something special. 40km of downriver paddling through the lush, rolling countryside of The Trent Valley. You’ll be joining like minded folks who want to endurance paddle, to test themselves, to battle the elements, who want to race to the castle and then share and trade stories with you. These people will become your new friends.

We’re hoping you’ll join us every year. Same weekend, but the conditions will vary. Will it be a sunny? Will the wind be behind us? What will the flow rate be? Head wind? The love hate relationship with the checkpoint portages and the surprise and drama of the final sprint finish.

We know you’ve already won. You did that when you hit the signup button. When you made your training plan and went out on the water throughout winter. We know you also won when you joined the start-line under the iconic Suspension Bridge.

Paddlers have the option to take part in the R2TC either as part of the race or adventure fleet. Same route, same date. If you want to have the most available time enter the adventure category and if you want to test your skills, stamina and strategy enter the applicable race category for your board length.

Every finisher is awarded their Race To The Castle Medal to wear with pride and the Top 3 fastest times Male and Female in all categories will be crowned 2024 Kings or Queens of the river.

The “Actual Event” is your glory lap. The celebration of the commitment you made to your self. ANDDDD it is a race so get going and BRING HOME THE CROWN.
